Four players are coming and one going from the St. Louis Cardinals' entry-level minor league club.

On Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals made five transactions at their entry US level, the Gulf Coast League.

Two players had temporarily been assigned to a higher level, but are now returning to the GCL.

Infielder Brett Wiley assigned to GCL Cardinals from Quad Cities River Bandits.
Pitcher Anderson Gerdel assigned to GCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.

One player has been promoted upward from the GCL.

Pitcher Silfredo Garcia assigned to Johnson City Cardinals from GCL Cardinals.

Two players from higher levels begin their respective rehabs in the GCL.

Pitcher Nick Additon assigned to GCL Cardinals from Memphis Redbirds.
Catcher Cody Stanley assigned to GCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.

Wiley, 20, played in two Midwest League games for the River Bandits, going 3-for-9 (.333) including a double and two runs scored. The organization's 13th round draft pick from Jefferson College (MO), played his first 12 career games in the GCL, batting .237.

Gerdel, 19, appeared in one Florida State League contest during his brief time with Palm Beach, pitching two shutout innings. The right-hander's only run allowed in four GCL games this season was unearned.

Garcia, who turns 21 next week, seems ready for advanced competition. After four GCL starts, his first US action, the right-hander allowed just four earned runs in 23 1/3 innings (1.54 ERA). Garcia fanned 27 and walked no one.

Additon, a left-hander, started Wednesday's GCL contest and pitched three scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, fanned three and walked no one. The 24-year-old has been out of Triple-A action since June 21 due to shoulder discomfort.

Stanley, 23, also played in Wednesday's GCL game and singled and doubled in his first two at-bats. The catcher has been out exactly a month with a broken finger. He earlier missed the first 50 games of the season due to a banned substance violation and had just 22 at-bats with Palm Beach between his reinstatement and the injury.
