As one of the top prospects in the Nationals' organization, Chris Marrero is a valuable commodity. So, when he had to be helped off the field Wednesday, hearts stopped.
Marrero tried to score from third on a fly ball and injured his right ankle in a collision at the plate. After laying on the field for some time, Marrero was helped off the field and will miss some time to let the ankle heal. Initially, Marrero was going to return to the lineup on June 26th, but he was placed on the DL Friday and there is now no timetable set for his return to the lineup.
To take Marrero's spot on the roster, Bill Rhinehart will move up to Potomac from Hagerstown.
At the time of his injury, Marrero was hitting .250 and had launched his 11th home run of the season just prior to the injury. The first base prospect has 38 RBI in 70 games this season with Potomac.
