Gene Yost Prospered As A Starter For Vermont

Left-handed pitcher Gene Yost was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 20th round of the 2004 MLB Draft and had a solid debut as a professional with the GCL Expos. In 2005 however, Yost - a starter in college - showed he could serve in any capacity for the Nationals. It is his success and versatility on the mound that could propel him all the way to the Majors.

Gene Yost went 6-1 with a 3.79 ERA in his professional debut with the GCL Expos upon being drafted in 2004. As solid as his year was, it was hard to accurately guage his effectiveness at the rookie level due to the fact that, at 23 years old, he was facing much younger competition.
